Day 3: Scottsdale - Sedona - Grand Canyon Begin the day with a visit to the beautiful city of Sedona and take some time to shop in the marketplace. Day 4: Grand Canyon - Lake Powell This morning you will have ample time to explore the Grand Canyon. Behold amazing views of the canyon with a drive along the South Rim. Theodore Roosevelt, upon visiting the canyon, is quoted as saying, "This is one of the great sights which every American, if he can travel at all, must see." Later, a short drive brings you to Cameron Trading Post. For nearly a century, the post has been a haven for travelers, traders, and explorers who come from all points of the globe to see the wonder of the Grand Canyon and experience the Native American cultures of the Southwest. Day 5: Lake Powell - Monument Valley - Lake Powell Begin your day with an invigorating breakfast cruise** along lovely Lake Powell. Journey through the territory of the Navajo nation and arrive in Monument Valley, a sacred Navajo land featuring colorful sandstone spires that rise hundreds of feet from the valley floor. The formations within Bryce Canyon National Park, called Hoodoos, are the creation of wind and water erosion over eons of time. Iron oxidizing within the rock causes the natural orange and red hues that color these formations. Your final destination for the day is the red and white sandstone cliffs of Zion Canyon National Park***. Day 7: Zion Canyon National Park - Las Vegas, Nevada Leave nature's beauty behind for the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip. In the beautiful colonial city of El Fuerte, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time. This colorful settlement was founded by the Spaniards in 1564, and sits gracefully in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Before dinner, guests will be treated to a memorable folkloric show. Day 5: El Fuerte - Copper Canyon Today you travel on the Chihuahua-Pacifico Railroad for an awe-inspiring journey that will take you from sea level to almost 8,000 feet via numerous tunnels and over countless bridges in this unspoiled landscape. Your route takes in the most scenic portions of the 25,000 square miles of canyon as you wind past thrilling gorges and expansive canyonlands. Day 6: Copper Canyon Experience the Tarahumara’s fascinating culture when tribal members perform for you. See their traditional dance, tribal games and a foot race demonstration. Day 2: Newport Today, travel along scenic Ocean Drive on your way to Bellevue Avenue, a beautiful street lined with historic mansions representative of America's Gilded Age and its socially and financially preeminent families. In the mid-1800’s, Newport’s famous mansions began sprouting up, and at the time were called “summer cottages.” Now, 7 out of the 11 mansions have been designated National Historic Landmarks. Day 6: Cape Cod - Portland, Maine As you depart gorgeous Cape Cod you will venture north on the coast to “America’s Oldest Seaport”, Gloucester, where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch (on your own) at one of the many restaurants on the waterfront. A short drive from Gloucester brings you to Hammond Castle, one of the most unique homes in America, which is perched high on a hill overlooking the Atlantic. The castle, constructed between 1926 and 1929, was the home and laboratory of John Hays Hammond Jr., one of America’s premier inventors, referred to as “the father of radio control” as many of his inventions focused on radio transmission. The castle houses a collection of medieval artifacts, a colossal pipe organ and Hammond’s famous invention room. Continue up the coast to Maine.
